Please select a service below to view more information.

Family Planning

Family Planning

This is aimed at offering a service in regard to pregnancy planning.  Advice is also available on the use of various contraceptives including condoms, oral contraceptive pills, Long Acting Reversible Contraceptives – LARCs (such as injections, implants, coils) and emergency contraception.  For the latter, please remember to inform the reception staff that you will require an urgent appointment.

All the above services can be accessed on a personal basis by contacting the surgery when you will be offered a special appointment “slot” especially dedicated for this purpose, to see either the Doctor or the Nurse.

Cervical Screening

Cervical Screening

This programme is co-ordinated by a special team based in Huddersfield.  One of the prime aims of this service is to inform patients when their next cervical smear is due which is usually 3-5 year intervals depending on the age of the patient.  On being notified, patients  can contact the surgery to book an appointment in the smear clinic, run by our Practice Nurse and is held on Thursday afternoons between 15.00 – 17.30.

Post Natal and 6-8 week Baby Checks

Post Natal and 6-8 week Baby Checks

These are arranged at the surgery and carried out by the Doctor between 13.00 – 14.00, which is especially set aside for this purpose on normal working days (except Thursdays).

If the above time is inconvenient for mum/baby, for whatever reason, then every effort will be made to offer them a suitable alternative appointment.

Baby clinic

Baby clinic

Health Visitors attached to our practice run a baby/toddler clinic on Thursday afternoons between 13.30 – 15.00.  A Doctor is usually on site whilst the above clinic is in progress. Please note that an appointment is not required to attend this clinic.

Immunisations

Immunisations

On arrival of the baby, mothers are informed of the date and time on which immunisations are due by the central team in Brighouse.  These are administered by our trained Practice Nurse on Thursdays between 13.00 – 15.00.  Any mother/baby who are unable to attend during this period are offered a suitable alternative appointment.

New Patient Check, Health Promotion, Weight management, Smoking Cessation and chronic Disease Management

New Patient Check, Health Promotion, Weight management, Smoking Cessation and chronic Disease Management

Patients are offered a New Patient Health Check at the time of registration and then usually every 3-5 years thereafter.

Other Clinics

Other Clinics

Well organised clinics in the areas listed below are run by our Practice Nurse, who is accredited in the management of many of the chronic diseases commonly seen in General Practice.

Phlebotomy

Phlebotomy

This service is provided by our Practice Nurse.  These samples are then forwarded to the hospital on the same day for analysis.

Influenza vaccine

Influenza vaccine

We offer 'flu vaccine' during the flu season (September – January) to all ages with pre-existing diseases such as asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, diabetes and heart disease.  It is also offered to all patients who are over the age of 65.

Pneumococcal vaccine

Pneumococcal vaccine

This is given for similar reasons as the flu vaccine but in addition it is also recommended for a number of other pre-existing conditions.  The pneumococcal vaccine is a “one off” jab as it usually provides lifelong immunity unlike the flu vaccine which has to be given yearly.  If you have any doubts about whether you require the above vaccines, please contact the surgery for advice and eligibility.

Finally, our practice is supported by the usual members of the Primary Care Team, including the District Nursing staff, Community Psychiatry Team and Social Workers.
